These are a few of our new and improved products. We pay a lot of attention to that "and," updating environmental performance and durability as well as color or pattern. To see more of our innovative products, visit the commercial or residential areas of our website.

Infinity® Backing with Antron Fiber
This product isn’t exactly an example of new thinking, but rather it has been made an example of. All of our modular carpets with Infinity® backing and Antron fiber have been certified as SCS Sustainable Choice-Gold/EPP under the Sustainable Carpet Assessment Draft Standard (NSF-140-2005).

This draft ANSI standard was developed to measure the sustainability of carpet over its entire life cycle. Certified products can be rated as bronze, silver, gold or platinum; products that are rated gold or platinum are also certified as Environmentally Preferable Products. This independent, 3rd-party certification provides both you and us with evidence that our environmental actions are yielding results.

ArtCraft™
Developed from a new way of looking at the bits of yarn remaining at the end of a run, ArtCraft™ is composed entirely of post-production yarn. We take all the leftovers, wind them onto creels by color value and then use all of the yarn in a wonderful mixture of color and texture. Though not recycling as defined by ISO and the FTC, this really is true and effective recycling. No energy or additional resources are needed to turn the yarn into a new material.

Beyond using a resource that previously would have been downcycled, this technique has other benefits. The carpet matches anything, can be installed randomly so no two installations are alike, and individual tiles can be replaced or areas added without a discrepancy in color between old and new tiles. This is truly a case of the sum being greater than the total of its parts.

ArtWorks™
There is one thing about ArtCraft™ that is both an advantage and an opportunity: it matches everything. If you are into coordination, though, there's ArtWorks™. It uses the same colorful post-production yarn as ArtCraft™, but has a predominant color of high-percentage recycled content type 6,6 nylon. It also comes on our high-percentage recycled content Infinity® RE backing. ArtWorks™ is available in three patterns: Sketches, Spheres and Zig Zags.

Infinity® RE Backing
With most recycling, you turn one product into another. Water bottles become fleece pullovers, and plastic bags become flowerpots. We thought why not recycle our stuff into our stuff, and developed a new carpet backing that reuses both hard-surface flooring and carpet.

First Environment Relay™RE
The biggest obstacle in recycling carpet is taking it apart. Most recycling programs exist for the individual parts, but the layers are too well attached to take advantage of these programs. That's why we researched and found a method to recycle the entire carpet and turn it into hard-surface resilient flooring – the only company who has figured out how to do this. We first did it with our own plant (pre-consumer) waste then expanded to post-consumer carpet collected via LOOP.

The carpet is ground up them combined with other components to create a commercial six-foot sheet product with 35% recycled content. 20% of that is post-consumer carpet collected and recycled at the end of its useful life. Relay RE comes in 30 different skus and all can be seen here.

Streamlines
How much is enough? With carpet, perhaps a little less. Our Streamlines products have a lower-face weight, saving resources in manufacturing and also in shipping. The lower-face weight doesn't mean lower performance, though. The tighter loop delivers the same amount of cushioning, noise-reduction and durability while allowing for easier maintenance. It is also easier to roll furniture across the carpet, an added bonus for those who like to rearrange often. Streamlines products include:

  • E-Ticket
  • OneWay
  • Round Trip

  • Possibilities
  • Matters of Design
  • Taking Shape
  • BioFocus
  • BioForm

Bamboo Floors
If you want to use a renewable resource, few plants grow as fast as bamboo. This grass is ready to harvest in three to five years, and needs little fertilization or pesticides. Add in strength and durability, and bamboo is a natural choice for hard-surface flooring. The planks are similar to hardwood floors, and the bamboo comes in a vertical or horizontal pattern. It's available in a light natural color or darker caramel. The color is added naturally, by steaming the bamboo before production.

Hardwood Floors
Mannington's hardwood floors have all the classic beauty of antique floors with the added value of greater durability and less resource use. That's because there is a better way to use each log. Instead of cutting round logs into square planks, we peel them into sheets. These sheets are bonded together in cross-grained layers. This not only uses more of the log, but also creates a plank that is stronger and less susceptible to warping. We use a variety of woods for the inside layers, minimizing forest waste. The adhesives and finish coats we use on our floors are all low-VOC, and provide a long-lasting durable finish. The final result is an heirloom floor you can pass on.

Laminate Floors
Laminate is a popular choice because of its great performance on the floor, but it also has great environmental performance. The core of laminate flooring is high-density fiberboard. The fibers come from saw dust, wood shavings and other pieces of waste from saw mills and log processors. These are recycled and compressed into the dense fiber board core. The finished laminate product is generally over 70% recycled content by weight. That's a huge amount of potential waste that's become a valuable product. The laminate visual is printed with water-based inks. The adhesives and finish coat, which help provide that long lasting durability, are low in VOC content. In fact, our laminate has been certified as low emitting per CHPS 01350 guidelines and 3rd party certified to the FloorScore IAQ program. Coupled with a 25-year residential warranty, that makes our laminate product a great looking, functional choice as well as good environmental decision.
